The beloved brand is making a return to the Okanagan
The nation collectively sank deep into a pit of warm nostalgia on news that Hudson's Bay Co. is set to resurrect discount retailer Zellers.
And on Wednesday, it finally announced it will be rolling out pop-up Zellers locations to all of its Hudson's Bay department stores across Canada, including the Orchard Park Shopping Centre.
It's expected the pop-up will be ready by Sept. 22.
The revived Zellers micro-stores will peddle housewares, furniture, toys, and clothing. It will also launch products under a private-label house brand.
Pop-up footprints will vary from store to store, ranging from 1,000 to 2,800 sq/ft, a media release from The Bay said.
The pop-ups serve as strategic market tests to determine future Zellers store locations.
It is still not known if there are plans to revive the chain’s teddy bear mascot Zeddy, or if old features, like the Zellers restaurant or Club Z, will return.
Zellers has already entered the e-commerce game, with marketplaces launching online earlier this year.
When the news of the infamous return broke, we at Kelowna10 hit the streets to see what Kelowna missed and loved most about the retailor.
