Your debt & credit card questions, answered

One size does not fit all

It's a common question asked by many when they walk through the door, seeking solutions to debt: will my credit cards get shut down?

According to one debt relief expert, it's not a one-size-fits-all solution; some paths might lead to that, while others won't.

"Some options require that unsecured creditors close all their credit facilities. Others do not," Charlie Peet, a debt relief expert with 4 Pillars Consulting, explained.

Peet said debt experts understand the need for a credit card in today's world, that's why their goal is to assist you in navigating through the transition from credit card usage to a cash only system.

"This doesn't mean that you'll be without a credit card for the conveniences, but it means you will no longer be reliant or burdened with debt," Peet added.

As to when you might see your credit card again?

"At 4 Pillars, we see credit cards as a necessary evil, but also as a stepping stone to rebuilding your credit," Peet said. "With us by your side, you'll have access to credit rebuilding advice, budgeting assistance, webinars, and financial literacy courses to boost your knowledge."
