Looking for a unique recipe for the big game? Chef Izzy has you covered.
It's time to wow your friends with some out of this world guacamole for Sunday’s big game.
Guacamole recipes are as individual as the people who make them, but for Chef Izzy at El Taquero in Kelowna, it’s his mother’s secret ingredient that makes his traditional guacamole fresh and delicious.
He starts with the usual fare: ripe avocados (look for fruits with with a wobbly or easy to remove stem), garlic, onion, cilantro, lime juice, serrano peppers (you choose the heat level), salt, pepper, and the secret ingredient - milk.
Whether it’s dairy, nut, or seed, is up to you. Milk helps the avocados keep their bright green colour better than lime juice.
Izzy actually uses less lime than you’d expect in his guacamole. He prefers to taste the avocado, which can easily be overwhelmed with too much citrus.
Izzy likes to put it all in the blender for a smooth style guac. He adds diced tomatoes and serves with fresh tortilla chips.
Enjoy!
