Do you fancy the job?
Want to know more about being a paid on-call firefighter?
The West Kelowna Fire & Rescue Service (WKFR) are looking to shore up their ranks, and Ara from 103.1 Beach Radio paid them a visit to show that while firefighting can be physically demanding, with the right training, anyone can do it.
And with the recent fires displaying some of their work firsthand, Fire Chief Jason Brolund expects there to be quite a bit of interest.
"Being a firefighter is the best job in the world," Brolund told Ara. "We all love being here. We love the teamwork and the camaraderie, and this is a great opportunity for people to come join our team."
WKFR plans to fill several positions to increase their team of paid on-call firefighters. Online applications are being accepted until Oct. 15 and training for successful candidates will begin in January 2024.
More can be learned about the program on their website here.
