Redefining the ride, while 'keeping the bugs in your teeth'
Admit it. You've seen these different-looking vehicles on our roads and wondered what they're all about.
That's where Regan Bartel, with RocketFAN.ca, comes in.
The voice of the Kelowna Rockets took the unique three-wheeled Polaris Slingshot for a test drive.
The vehicle, first introduced in 2014, is special because two of the three wheels are configured in the front of the machine, offering a distinctive riding experience.
Crafted with the option of a 2.4-liter inline-four engine or a potent 2.0-liter turbocharged powerplant, it's endowed with reliable speed and handling.
“People like to turn heads and get attention, clearly, this will do the trick,” Colin Hustler with M&M Performance told Regan. “The steering is tight, the power is great, and the top is off.”
He pointed out that, in British Columbia, wearing a helmet while operating one is not mandatory.
Hustler noted while the customer base for this type of vehicle is diverse, it predominantly consists of those with the financial means for indulgence.
“[The typical clientele] will be those who've got enough money to afford a luxury of this nature, because there's not a ton of practicality,” he explained. “We are seeing a lot of folks who used to ride bikes and they're not quite as physically capable as they once were, but they still want the bugs in their teeth.”
