We asked Kelowna: Should Donald Trump be allowed back to Twitter?

See what Kelowna has to say and you might be surprised.

Love him or hate him, do you think the world needs more, or less, Donald Trump on the Twitterverse?

Roach from 104.7 The Lizard hit the Kelowna streets to find out.

Ever since the world’s richest man, Elon Musk (love him or hate him as well) took control of Twitter, it’s arguably the biggest question facing the mega social media platform: Should the former president of the United States be allowed back on?

Trump was famously banned by Twitter on Jan. 8, 2021, following various tweets in the wake of the attack on Jan. 6 at the US Capitol. Twitter said it took the action “…due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”

Musk has amassed 113 million followers on the platform, and he knows full well its potential influence. He couldn’t resist letting us all know that in a tweet Wednesday: “Twitter is simply the most interesting place on the Internet. That’s why you’re reading this tweet right now,” he posted.

Musk, after he took over the company, said it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, but he also said it could not become “…a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences!”

He knows the world is watching and waiting for news about Trump, who had almost 89 million Twitter followers when he was axed.

“If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me if Trump is coming back on this platform, Twitter would be minting money!,” Musk posted on Monday.

That followed an earlier post in which he said Twitter would be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints.

“No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes,“ Musk posted. On Wednesday, he indicated any decisions regarding banned accounts are still a few more weeks away.

And what of Trump?

Following the Musk takeover, the former president said he was “…very happy that Twitter is now in sane hands.”

Posting to his own Truth Social platform last week, Trump said he was glad Twitter “…will no longer be run by Radical Left Lunatics and Maniacs that truly hate our country.”

Anyway, this is all just chatter from two very controversial figures.

What’s really important is what Kelowna has to say.
