WATCH: You're not the only one who loves the new Kelowna10 app

National media organization likes Kelowna’s new media offering

Kelowna10, the new digital experience that has quite literally turned Kelowna on its head, has won accolades from the Canadian media industry.

The Kelowna10 app - with its modern, vertical, sleek all-video format - breaks the media mold and has become an instant hit with users and the community whose stories we share.

And, just like you, the Radio Television Digital News Association of Canada (RTDNA) loves it.

It was nominated and then secured an 'honourable mention' in the Western Canada regional category for Overall Excellence in Digital Media. It joined entries from national media corporations CBC (which won the award) and CTV, in the list of three finalists.

“It’s really good to see media experts in Canada agreeing with our growing number of app users in Kelowna who really enjoy our modern, trendy, video-based storytelling,” Kelowna10 content director Glenn Hicks said.

“I’m delighted the RTDNA judges understand the relevance in the modern media age of our Kelowna10 app - the first local all news app that offers a daily blend of news that matters and community feature stories that inspire.”

Tens of thousands of Kelowna10 users have already downloaded the app and have discovered the uncluttered content that is easy-to-scroll, all-video, and full-screen.

Every pixel is used for effective story telling. The video is text-narrated with music. And there’s always the option to read a full article.

“The beauty of the app is that it can be consumed to suit the user’s current situation,” Hicks said. “Kelowna10 is built like a social media app. It is easy and fun to use. Our daily approach to storytelling is modern and vibrant.”

Kelowna10 has produced hundreds of one-minute video stories, gaining applause from all who have been featured and those who enjoy watching local media in a whole new way.
