Local company aims to expand its fleet in coming years

  • Will provide air travel for leisure, tourism, and workforce markets
  • Company will offer custom catering on board

Have you ever fancied taking off from Kelowna with your buddies in your own plane?

A new passenger air charter service has launched that will give sports teams, and contract workers a new experience.

Aeroflyer, has been introduced by KF Aerospace.

The airline will provide domestic and international charter programs using a fleet of B737NG aircraft, providing air travel for the leisure, tourism, and workforce transportation markets.

A member of the Charter of Operations team, Trevor Wakefield, told Kelowna10 the focus will be on ad hoc charters, as well as industrial energy sectors.

“We’re going to start with two [airplanes], and the intent is to increase and expand as we grow. The vision we have is approximately six to eight aircraft within the next 24 months,” Wakefield said.

He added Kelowna has an abundance of industry workers that work out of the energy sector fields.

“We’ll be able to help bridge that gap between major hubs of Calgary and Edmonton,” Wakefield said.

According to Wakefield, the aircraft will contain 119 seats, a 32 inch pitch, and a large seating capacity for the standard male.

“Lots of range in a newer generation aircraft,” he said.

For Wakefield, aviation is his passion.

“I’m a pilot myself. I’ve been flying for the last 25 years throughout Western Canada and Canada as a whole. We’re excited to finally bring this venture to life,” Wakefield said.

With aircraft currently based in Kelowna and Calgary, Aeroflyer will be positioning for growth beyond Western Canada.

“In the coming months we plan to expand our fleet across the country to support national and international customers,” said Aeroflyer Charter Operations Manager, Nick Samuel in a media release.

“We’re excited to provide the market with nimble, responsive and highly efficient charter solutions.”
