WATCH: St. Patrick’s Day celebrations take over downtown Kelowna

First time the holiday was enjoyed without major restrictions in two years

  • Irish dancers performed all over town
  • Pubs were filled thanks to lack of restrictions

The sights and sounds of an extra special St Patrick’s Day took over downtown Kelowna.

For the first time in two years, revelers could enjoy a pint of green beer in their favorite pub without capacity restrictions.

Kelowna10 caught up with Ticalie Irish Dance Academy at their performances at the Yacht Club. Their dancers, of all ages, performed at venues all evening.

Lineups formed outside several pubs downtown, including Kelly O’Bryan’s, in what was its busiest St. Patty’s Day in years. Staff went all out with green costumes, face paint, even dying their hair or beards green.

Nobody was happier for the busy day than owner Jeffrey Blower, dressed head to toe in four-leaf clover designs.

“It is amazing. We’re so happy. It’s been two years of hell,” he told Kelowna10. “We’re finally at full capacity; no masks, staff are happy, everybody’s back.”
