WATCH: Paralympic Kelowna athlete takes home hardware

As the games come to an end, a Kelowna athlete snapped up a medal

  • The medal is the first at the Beijing Games for Emily Young
  • Her team finished third in the 4x2.5-kilometre mixed cross country relay

Kelowna’s Emily Young took home a bronze medal Sunday in the 4x2.5-kilometre mixed cross country relay at the Beijing Paralympics.

Young, along with teammates Collin Cameron, Mark Arendz and Natalie Wilkie, crossed the finish line in 27 minutes 0.6 seconds.

They were 1:01.3 behind the gold-medal winning Americans. China took second place with a time of 26 minutes 25.3 seconds.

This was the first medal of the Games for Young, and was the 24th Paralympic medal for Canada in Beijing.
