Both Mountie and suspect treated in hospital for injuries
A Kelowna RCMP officer was stabbed while responding to a call downtown Saturday night.
Just after midnight, the officer was called to the 1000 block of Ellis Street for a disturbance. They requested backup shortly after arriving as they had been stabbed.
Others arrived and arrested the suspect, according to a media release.
Both the officer and the suspect were taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
“Our officers face danger and difficult circumstances each and everyday in the service of this community,” Operations Officer Insp. Adam MacIntosh said in the release. “I am grateful for the incredible work they did in supporting each other and responding to this event. Our thoughts remain with the officer and their family.”
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information or who may have video footage of the incident is asked to contact police.
