WATCH: The big winners, as this family's mortgage was covered for a whole year

The last time Adam Trarback won anything on the radio, it was likely in the 1990s, when stations were still giving away CDs.

So it was quite the shock when Ara from 103.1 Beach Radio rolled up on his family’s door step with a giant cheque from Kelowna10 for $16,380.

It will cover his family’s mortgage payments for a whole year.

“It feels amazing,” he said. “I don’t know what to say. I am speechless.”

His wife, Samantha, and daughter, Emily, were equally as excited about the win.

“We can go take a nice vacation,” Adam said. “And fix our furnace,” Samantha added. “It broke on Christmas Day, during the cold snap, and we didn’t have heat for a week.”

Adam entered the contest on Kelowna10 almost everyday – as one could – for his chance to win. His entries were among just under 100,000 from across the community. And his persistence paid off.
