WATCH: If you love cars, and showing them off, this event is for you

One of the biggest car shows in Kelowna returns

  • After a two year hiatus, the biggest car show in Kelowna is coming back this summer
  • In 2019, close to 38,000 people turned up, with over 600 cars on display

One of the biggest events for the car and motorcycle enthusiast is making a comeback to show off their prized possessions and passion projects.

BOYD Autobody & Glass Father’s Day Charity Car Show is returning to City Park, after a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The show is expected to welcome upwards of 40,000 people.

In 2019, close to 38,000 people turned up, with over 600 cars on display.

The show also collects money for the Child Advocacy Centre in Kelowna and has raised more than $142,000 over the last few years.

BOYD’s General Manager, Methal Abougoush, said the event is a great reason for many people from out of town to enjoy, while also reconnecting the automotive community who haven’t had the chance to get together in a long time.

“Over the last two years, I have not seen so many people I’m accustomed to seeing at other car events,” he said. “What I enjoy, is seeing my friends and other car enthusiasts and us all coming together for one common cause, raising money for a great charity.

A car collector himself, Abougoush does have one car he’s planning on showing off - and it may be familiar to a certain generation.

“My latest restoration is a 1977 Trans-Am, it’s the Smokey and The Bandit car,” he said. “It’s the year and they colour, everything Burt Reynolds had back in the day. Black on black, T-top, four speed, four hundred Trans-Am.”

Anyone who wants to register a car, donate, or volunteer, can do it online.

The car show is slated for June 19.
