UPDATE: ( June 16, 2022)

The Central Okanagan Search and Rescue have suspended their search for missing woman Chelsea Cardno due to safety concerns over Mission Creek's current flow rate and levels.

They will be consulting with the RCMP on Friday with hopes they can re-start the search on Saturday. RCMP said the weather and water level will be a factor in the decision to continue the search.

Kelowna RCMP is asking for the public’s help to find 31-year-old Chelsea Cardno, whose disappearance appears to be tied to the dangerous high creek levels Tuesday.

She was last seen leaving her home on Dougall Road South around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, as she was taking her German Shepperd “JJ” for a walk near the Mission Greenway.

Officers found Cardno’s white BMW parked at the north end of Pasadena Road.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) and members of the RCMP conducted ground, water, and air searches throughout the afternoon and into the night.

Cardno is described as four-foot-eleven, 108 lbs, with brown hair and blonde highlights. She was last seen wearing a blue or grey cap, bright red puffy jacket, sweatpants, and black lace-up style army boots.

“At the time Chelsea went missing, the water level of Mission Creek was high and fast-moving,” said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera said in a press release. “While searching the area, COSAR rescued over-turned kayakers at the mouth of Mission Creek. Given the local state of emergency, the Kelowna RCMP are asking citizens to stay away from Mission Creek.”

Anyone with information on where Cardno, or her dog “JJ”, might be, is asked to contact police.
