The cool thing about this riff is that it’s in an odd time signature.

Most of the music we listen to is in 4/4 or 6/8, but you can tell there’s something funky about this riff.

That’s because it’s in a 7/8 time signature. Instead of counting to 4, we count to 7. Or we can count a group of 3 and two groups of 2.

See? Odd time signatures are fun!
