This Okanagan non-profit is helping women get ahead in their career

Dress for Success continues to help women be job ready.

  • New program to help career and self-development
  • Donations and volunteers still needed

Dress for Success Kelowna continues to grow in the community and runs through this month.

The non-profit organization opened its doors in 2019 and has since grown to help over 150 women in the Okanagan.

Program Director Dominique Lennox told Kelowna10 women of all ages benefit from their services. All the clothing items are donated by the community and are free for members.

“We get a mix of everything,” Lennox said. “We have women who are looking for the interview outfits or already in the job and don’t have the means to purchase them on their own."

The organization has launched a 12-month program to help women further their career and self-development. It includes help on how to achieve, find, maintain and thrive in employment, alongside maintaining their personal wellbeing.

The program features financial education with Launch Okanagan. There is also a mentoring program from local business women, complimentary cosmetic services, and a focus on developmental growth.

Lennox said they are always looking for more volunteers and donations of blazers, petit and plus sizes, and winter jackets.

“All the women signed on to this program have come to our boutique for interview clothing, got that job, and are now looking to further their career development,” Lennox said.
