This metal concert changed mosh pits forever

A tragic stage incident led to more safety awareness

They have been at the forefront of the new wave of American heavy metal since the 1990s.

But Lamb of God have also been a key element in preaching crowd safety at live gigs since a tragedy at one of their concerts in Europe in 2010.

That’s when a fan who jumped on stage was alleged to have been pushed off by frontman Randy Blythe. The fan later died from head injuries.

That led to Blythe’s arrest in 2012, for manslaughter, although he was later found not guilty of being criminally responsible. The promoters and security staff were judged to be largely to blame.

Since then, Blythe and many other artists have put a premium on safety among live audiences.

The Lamb of God frontman, in part out of respect to the family of the fan who lost his life back in 2010, has publicly offered concert goers safety tips should any fan need help out on the floor.

Don’t wave your arms, because everyone is already likely doing that. The proper thing to do is make a cross shape with your arms or signal the ‘T’ shape time-out signal with your hands.

Check out the video as Ryan from 104.7 The LIZARD plays some Lamb of God and reflects on this darker, but hopefully educational, chapter in rock history.
