This lucky winner has a new ride

One man left Rock the Lake with a little bit more than he arrived with

David Hawkins drove to Rock the Lake in a Jeep Wrangler, but left with a 2022 Ford Bronco® Big Bend™ Sasquatch™!

"I'm just amazed, I sure wasn't expecting this... I had my wife calling me when I was at work, telling me where the Bronco was," he told Kelowna10. "My kid's probably going to faint when I get home."

He was among the ten finalists and the lucky winner of the Free Ride contest put on by 103.1 Beach Radio and 104.7 The Lizard.

Hawkins won his new ride live on stage Sunday evening in front of thousands of concertgoers after a rocking performance by Trooper.

He said the only other time he won something was 15 years ago at a casino where he took home a few hundred dollars, so he's excited to drive his new car home.

"Thank you, everybody, thank you Beach and The Lizard, thank you so much. This is overwhelming."

The contest for the biggest prize the radio station has ever given away ran all summer, with stops at businesses all over the Kelowna area. One finalist was drawn from each stop, and all of them were invited to Rock the Lake on Sunday.
