Dealership collects toys for families this Christmas

A small parade kicked off the Cars & Toys event this year, giving Mrs. and Mr. Claus a very luxurious ride into the August Luxury Motorcars building.

The parade included a variety of sports cars, one of which Mrs. Claus was riding in, and gave families an eye-catching show before they donated their toys.

“People are bringing an unwrapped toy as a donation, and then get their photo with Santa as they go through [the] candy cane lane of exotic supercars in the showroom,” owner of August Luxury Motorcars Matt August told Kelowna10.

This is the sixth annual Cars & Toys event at August Luxury Motorcars. Last year's event was held as a drive through event due to COVID-19.

The company also hosts the Okanagan Dream Rally, which is a large car rally that has raised over $1.7 million for different charities throughout British Columbia. The event sees children in need matched with a driver and given the opportunity to co-pilot a dream car for a day.

“This is a really neat way to kind of, wish them a merry Christmas and see them one more time during the year other than just Dream Rally,” August said.

Having missed Dream Rally for the past two year, August said it’s nice to see those families again. Donations this year will go towards the Ronald McDonald House BC and Yukon, and Mamas for Mamas.

“This event, I think, offers a lot of people the opportunity to see a lot of cool cars in one place, [and] also get their photo with Santa,” August said.

August added there’s not many places where you can get a $2 million McLaren Senna, and a Lamborghini Huracan as your backdrop for your photo with Santa.

“The holidays is also a big time for people to help other people that may not be able to supply toys for their children, or their family, or friends, so this is a nice place for them to do that,” August said.

August Luxury Motorcars is planning on hosting their Okanagan Dream Rally event in August of 2022.
