This ham, banana & hollandaise recipe will elevate your next breakfast

This simple dish takes bananas to the next level

Food is a key part of the holidays for anyone marking the occasion.

So what better time to knock the dust off those old cookbooks lying around the house and scrounge up some traditional recipes.

That's just what the culinary couple of Big Ginger, from 103.1 Beach Radio, and Roach, from 104.7 The Lizard, decided to do this year.

To start, the pair have embarked on crafting a quintessential 1970s dish, known as ham, banana & hollandaise.

Drawing on French and American influence, this simple but effective plate is an easy way to take your holiday breakfast to the next level.

Recipe:

  • 3 bananas
  • One piece of ham per banana
  • Your favourite mustard (a smoky mustard is recommended)
  • Lemon juice
  • Hollandaise

Method:

  1. Peel and then lemon the bananas. This is to avoid darkening.
  2. Spread mustard on the sliced ham and wrap the bananas with it
  3. Pop the wrapped bananas in the oven at 400 F for 10 minutes
  4. Pour the hollandaise over the bananas
  5. Return to the oven for another five minutes, or until bananas are golden brown

Enjoy!
