This 'fun and flirty' plane is coming to the lake this summer

Miss El to take off at Hotel Eldorado

A fully flyable rebuilt, refurbished, and repainted 1948 aircraft is set to grace Okanagan Lake this summer.

The De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver is proudly owned by Ted Callaghan, President and CEO of Argus Properties Ltd.

Christened 'Miss El', the all-metal bush plane is fitted with floats and will be a staple over the summer months outside Hotel Eldorado as the iconic venue gets set to celebrate its 99th year, with their centennial coming in 2026.

"We wanted something that really represented Canadian aviation history, and the Beaver is iconic," Callaghan told Kelowna10 when showing off the plane which is being stored and exhibited at KF Centre for Excellence through the winter.

"We also wanted to do something fun and flirty and so, in following with the Okanagan tradition of Lady of the Lake, we decided to design 'Miss El'".

Callaghan said the aircraft is in mint condition and ready for passengers although he's yet to develop the business plan around how people will get to enjoy accompanying 'Miss El' in the skies over the valley.
