Ryan is joined by some special guests this week
It was April 1983 when the Violent Femmes burst onto the scene with their self-titled debut album.
"It came out at a time when rock & roll, and disco, and so much music was just very overproduced," Ryan, from 104.7 The LIZARD, said.
"There was this underground scene that was bubbling and it was about to explode. And this album helped do it."
The album's standout sing-along single, 'Blister in the Sun', was written by vocalist Gordon Gano, and originally intended for a female vocalist.
The song references drug use, but was originally misinterpreted by many, believing it spoke about masturbation.
Watch, as Ryan joins his Cronenberg bandmates, Jason and Chris, to mark the milestone, with their take on the track.
And if you yearn to see the iconic folk punk trail blazers live, the Violent Femmes announced a flurry of U.S. dates to celebrate the debut album release anniversary.
