Spring catwalk ready at Okanagan Heritage Museum

Rolling out the collection

As the weather turns, staff at the Kelowna Museums Society have prepared the catwalk and many display cases for an impressive fashion exhibition.

Spring Fashion: From Collections to the Catwalk, is now open, and shows off just a small portion of their impressive 2,500-piece collection of items.

Until May 26, they’re celebrating the rich colours and patterns of the season from decades past: from footwear from the late 1800s, to suits from the 60s, and dazzling outfits from the 80s.

“This is a rare opportunity for us to show our fashion collection,” Curatorial Manager Amanda Snyder told Kelowna10. “It’s really about the public coming to enjoy these objects.”

Snyder said there will be bonus opportunities for the public to explore much more by visiting their storage area.

“Check in with us, check our website; we’ll have some behind-the-scenes tours throughout the duration of this exhibition,” she said.

A special opening celebration is planned for March 14, with prizes on offer for those who dress up for the fashionista occasion.
