Spooky food drive donations head for distribution

Massive food and cash bounty

Trucks were lined up out front of Orchard Plaza Save-On Foods Thursday, to deliver what was raised to the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

The 6th Annual Spooktacular Holiday Food Drive in late October was a monster-mashing successs.

A grand total of 2,943 pounds of food was gathered. Also, $26,487 in donations were collected from Save-On Foods locations through West Kelowna to Lake Country, including $11,600 from Kelowna Toyota.

Representatives of these companies along with Beach Radio's Ara and Toby were loading up trucks chock full of food that were quickly shipped off and loaded at the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

"Collaboration with others who have the same capacity to help is really key," Central Okanagan Food Bank's Director of Development Trina Speiser told Kelowna10.

"We're having a huge increase in numbers because of inflationary pressures, so this just helps us to feed hope to all the individuals facing food insecurity."
