Bringing authentic flavors and vibrant culture
Kelowna has always embraced restaurants from around the globe.
And now there’s a new addition to the expanding food scene, that comes all the way from vibrant Central America, with El Salvador Bar & Grill.
Serving authentic Salvadorian dishes like Pupusas, Pastelitos, it brings the El Salvador vibes to Kelowna.
“Our country is very important to us, and we realize there's only a couple of places that are half Salvadoran, half Mexican in the Okanagan,” manager Rachel Murga told Sarah Nick from 104.7 The LIZARD. “We wanted to bring our authentic food and vibe and just culture to Kelowna and have everyone understand where we are from.”
Murga noted the early reception has been very positive while recognizing the importance of multiculturalism in Kelowna.
Since launching the restaurant with her uncle, she has been on a cultural exploration, educating herself in her country’s heritage and history in hopes of passing along that same passion she’s discovered to her diners.
“I've been doing my own research on the country and learning its history and where it's going and where it's come from. And it has just been so beautiful learning that I find it very important for all my guests to understand and learn that as they eat our food and learn more about us and get the excitement through us, through food."
El Salvador Bar & Grill is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
