Long standoff 'an isolated event': Kelowna RCMP

Gordon Dr. sealed off by police between K.L.O. Rd. and Raymer Ave.

Update:

Kelowna RCMP told Kelowna10 Thursday they would not be publicly disclosing the reasons for their critical response to a residence on Gordon Drive late Wednesday afternoon. A five-hour standoff ended with a man being apprehended.

In a media release it called the incident 'an isolated event' and the investigation is ongoing.

It explained the reasoning behind a request to the media and the public not to post images of an event like this is because de-escalation and safety of the public drives their decision making to resolve these situations. The RCMP said publishing and posting photos of officers’ locations and the techniques they are using may compromise their safety and the objective to resolve the situation and potentially placing lives at risk.
