Performing to a full house once again

Kelowna Community Theatre set to welcome bigger audiences

  • Capacity has been increased to 100 per cent
  • Upcoming shows will have more tickets available
  • Theatre has undergone renovations

The arts community is ready to welcome back a full house in the wake of the province relaxing public health measures around event capacity.

“It feels amazing to be back to full capacity,. It’s been something that the local community has been waiting on for so long,” Kelowna Community Theatre Manager Caroline Ivey told Kelowna10.

She said several upcoming shows, including ‘O Christmas Tea’, this weekend, and ‘The Nutcracker’ next week, are looking to sell more tickets.

Ivey said many shows that fell off the calendar because of the uncertainty will be coming back to the stage in the spring.

“The shows have been booked, now we know they’re going to stick… we’ve got so many shows this spring happening, so watch for those announcements,” she said.

Although the audience and performers will be glad to have full capacity shows, they’re not the only ones.

“Everybody is just thrilled to be back. The ushers, the front of house contractors, our techs. We’re all excited to be back in the building with live performance happening,” Ivey explained.

The theatre has undergone a few renovations recently, including new carpet in the bar area, new paint in the theatre, and a new sound system as well.

“I just really thank the Kelowna community for coming out and supporting the arts groups while we’ve been under restrictions,” Ivey said.
