Pair of rental towers proposed for Dilworth, Baron corner

Nearly 500 people expected to be accommodated

Two sizable rental towers are being pitched for the quickly densifying area around Dilworth Drive and Baron Road.

Plans submitted to city hall in recent days detail designs for 258 units, spread across two buildings.

A 14-floor tower will house 118 units, while a 15-floor building will contain 140 suites. Inside will be 115 one-bedroom homes, 101 two-bedroom units, and 42 studio apartments.

The mixed-use project will include retail stores on the ground floor.

“A vibrant food and beverage use is planned for our storefront retail area,” the documents read. “And a 6.0m deep wrap-around dining terrace ‘plaza’ is proposed to provide seasonal spill-out space along a favorable west site exposure.”

Due to the already traffic heavy on the surrounding roads, a private road will be built on the property to access the lobby and waste removal services.

The towers will be connected to a two-floor parking podium, which is set to have a large amenity deck atop.

A bocce court and open lawn area will allow for physical activity and exercise. It will be alongside an outdoor kitchen with a covered dining area. Other amenities will include a remote office workspace, as well as a unique presentation theatre, which can be used for outdoor movies.

The plans have already circulated around city hall, but there is no date for when it might come before lawmakers for scrutiny and approval.
