Northern Lights peek through clouds to dazzle Okanagan

Stunning lights a rare display

People across much of Canada are being treated to dazzling displays of aurora borealis, and that includes the Okanagan.

It comes as powerful solar flares collide with Earth thanks to a massive geomagnetic storm.

Aurora activity is also increasing as the sun reaches the most active part of its 11-year cycle in 2025.

The stunning spectacle stretched all the way down to the Okanagan Valley on Thursday and Friday night, a scene not often observed. More activity is anticipated Saturday night.

Local photographer Roman Bartos was among the many who got out to capture the lights.

He sent these photos and videos to Kelowna10. Check out the video to see his work!

If you have any photos or video from around the Okanagan, send them to news@kelowna10.com.
