Gusting, shifting winds make wildfire situation worse.
There have been extensive evacuations on both sides of Okanagan Lake as concerns raised earlier this week from emergency officials about dry weather and winds have been realized.
As of Friday morning, nearly 2,500 people had been forced from their homes because of the McDougall Creek Wildfire near West Kelowna.
There have also been evacuations because of spot fires making their way over the lake and sparking blazes in the Clifton/McKinley areas.
