Middle-Earth collides with the Okanagan for Hobbit Day

Local all-female tattoo studio celebrates high fantasy

What happens when you mix a group of female tattoo artists with hobbits? A lot of creativity.

In celebration of International Hobbit Day, a local tattoo shop offered Lord of the Rings related “flash” tattoos for customers.

Candice Browne, owner of The Ink Parlour worked with her talented artists to create several designs for the occasion. Her business is unique in that all the artists are female.

“It’s warm and inviting, not always been that way,” Browne told Kelowna10. “A lot of people enjoy coming to see a female tattoo artist.”

She said that it used to be a bit intimidating, especially for women to come into a tattoo shop and get certain kinds of tattoos, but her all-female staff completely negates that feeling.

Kelowna10 was able to see a few patrons celebrate the occasion by getting tattoos of the helm of the Witch King or Aragorn’s shattered sword Narsil.

During these “flash” tattoo events, Browne makes donations to the Kelowna Women’s Shelter.
