From fine dining to community nourishment
Chef Jeremy Luypen has built an impressive career in some of the Okanagan’s finest establishments, including Summerhill Winery, Predator Ridge, Hotel Eldorado, and as the original chef and owner of Terrafina at Hester Creek.
Today, he brings his culinary expertise and passion to a new role as the Food Services Manager at Kelowna Gospel Mission.
“I look at my career over 20 years, 25 years in the industry, and this is the most fun I've had," he told Toby from 103.1 Beach Radio. "Just playing with food, serving good food to people, working with a great team, and just giving back to the community.”
In contrast to typical restaurant kitchens, his work at the Kelowna Gospel Mission allows a unique freedom with food.
"We don't have set menus. They may not know what they're eating, but they know that it's good," Luypen said.
"Through the time that we've been here, the feedback has been that [residents] feel better, have more energy to fight off flus and colds which have been going down because they're eating healthy which is important to us."
