Meet the local woman who saw The Beatles live in the 60s, twice!

Sixty years of nostalgia

Ryan, from 104.7 The LIZARD, caught up with a local woman who has quite the story to tell.

Susan Sutfin from West Kelowna, a big music fan and regular listener of The LIZARD, 103.1 Beach Radio and OV1039, saw two live concerts - a year apart - performed by the Fab Four at Toronto's Maple Leaf gardens.

She was aged 13 and 14 at the time and the floor tickets for her party of five - her two brothers and two cousins- cost a whopping $5.00 each! A neighbour who worked at the arena had helped get those tickets.

"It was a new change as to how we looked at, listened to, and appreciated the music," Susan said when recollecting Beatles mania. "We spent money on albums and singles and listened to the transistor radio all day. It's like the phones [of today] glued to the kids' [ears]. We had our transistor radios."

At those Beatles concerts in 1964 and 1965, did she realize she was witnessing history?

"No, because it was just a great band and a whole new type of music; a new type of appearance. These guys had long hair which was awful..it covered their ears!" she said tongue-in-cheek.

"We were starting our rebellious 60s."

Susan remembers she was determined before the Beatles came out on stage that she would not get swept up in all the fan screaming.

Check out the video to learn how it went, and find out what her maiden name is. It's hard to believe!
