Local man wins big on slots
Yes, we know Kelowna has more than its fair share of millionaires.
But how’s this for an explosive rate of return on your money?
Kelowna’s Greg Moroso, who plays at Chances Casino on a weekly basis, entered a $3.00 bet into the Powerbucks Wheel of Fortune slot machine.
When all the icons and numbers settled, and amid all the bells and flashing lights, Moroso figured he’d won big.
A staff member came over and shared the news that he found hard to believe.
He’d won the $1,485,994.62 jackpot.
Moroso admits to having put around $100 into the machine before the special moment arrived. And he said he only chose to move onto that particular slot machine on March 22, because he fancied sitting down in a comfortable chair for a while.
“It’s life changing,” Moroso said at a media event Friday, following his big windfall. “To be able to pay off your mortgage and retire in a situation where you’re comfortable [is nice].”
Moroso, who was joined by his wife Patrinna, were presented a display cheque for the big amount along with the much smaller, but real deal in an envelope.
“We’re thinking of getting an RV next year,” Moroso said.
Travelling to big music events is on the agenda, like seeing the Eagles at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
Moroso was asked what his first task would be now the money is in his hands.
“The bank manager is expecting me today,” he explained.
