Meet the American who shows up for every Rockets home game

Fan drives over two hours for every weekend home game.

There are many loyal Kelowna Rockets season ticket holders who travel from across the Okanagan to get behind their beloved team.

But Josh Farnsworth is in a different category: he's not Canadian and lives in a different country.

The first-time season ticket holder is enjoying his drives up from Tonasket, Washington for every home game.

Speaking with Regan Bartel from RocketFAN.ca, Farnsworth said he's embraced the team and its dedicated legion of supporters.

“I’ve built a great relationship with the Kelowna Rockets fans and the family of the Rockets has just been amazing and very well accepting,” he explained. “I’ve done my due diligence to learn the Canadian anthem and sing it along with them. Because they sing it a lot more than they do the American one.”

Though from Washington State, Farnsworth is not giving his allegiance to any of his area WHL teams. His travels to Kelowna are a matter of proximity and a connection with friends on the lake, but he's also determined to make the Rockets his team.

"Who in their right mind is going to like the Spokane Chiefs,” he joked.

“The closest team from my house is the Kelowna Rockets. I have friends that live in Westbank, so it just made sense to be able to get tickets, come up and enjoy some amazing hockey in an amazing arena, and that’s what happened.”
