Rising star
It's a big step up for young basketball player Jalen Shirley.
The Kelowna-based player - the all-time leading points and assists scorer for the UBCO Heat - was recently signed by the Vancouver Bandits professional team after impressing the coaches at the Bandits University Combine (BUC).
The club said his development with the Heat is a testament to the rapid growth of youth basketball in B.C., even away from the Lower Mainland.
He just graduated with a health and exercise science degree.
