Man charged in connection to Vernon woman's death in England

Woman killed weeks after moving to UK to be with boyfriend, suspect

A Vernon woman was stabbed to death in a suburb of London, England, and her boyfriend has been arrested and charged with murder.

Police in the English county of Essex, said Ashley Wadsworth, 19, was found dead in a Chelmsford apartment Tuesday afternoon. Police had responded to the neighbours' report of a 'disturbance.'

British media report she had moved to England recently to be with her British boyfriend, whom she met online.

Her boyfriend, 23-year-old Jack Sepple, was arrested and appeared in court on Feb. 3, charged with her murder. He was remanded in custody to appear again Friday.

Police said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with Wadworth’s death.

“We have a team of dedicated officers working around the clock to establish the circumstances which led to a woman losing her life,” said an officer with the investigation team in a news release on Wednesday.

"We are carrying out additional, high visibility patrols over the coming days as we continue our investigation into the death of a woman in Chelmsford."

Wadsworth was reportedly due to fly home to see her family in Vernon this week.

Numerous tributes and condolences have been posted on Ashley’s Facebook page.

“I am at lost of words. My heart aches to hear this tragic news the last time we talked we were planning to hangout right? Ashley was one of my best friends that I’ve met here in Canada. We lost a beautiful soul. Rest in peace Beautiful. You’ll be missed,” said Kaillah Dizon.

Ashley’s step mother, Charmaine Wadsworth, spoke to CBC News.

“We’re just remembering how strong and smart and witty Ashley was, and how kind she was. And how she was always ten steps ahead of all of us. She will be really missed by each and every one of us,” said Wadsworth.
