Anonymously fighting crime
For over 30 years, Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers has empowered individuals to confidentially report any information regarding crimes in the area. This ensures their identity is not made public.
“It’s a way for somebody in our community to get the information out and not have to call the police. Anonymity is the key pillar of what we go by,” Glynton Brittain of Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers said.
He noted the organization receives approximately 1,200 calls each year in the Okanagan.
As part of their annual Make Bail event, where “inmates” raise funds for their bail, Toby Tannas from 103.1 Beach Radio was taken away in handcuffs during the morning show.
She was one of the celebrities 'locked up' for being a ‘good sport and a great member of the community.’
Money raised during the event goes to rewards paid out by the organization for anonymous tips leading to an arrest.
If you have any information regarding any of their ongoing cases, you can submit a tip online or call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
