Local community food boxes bring farm-to-table goodness

Getting fresh, local produce just hours after its harvested

In response to rising grocery store prices for fresh produce, some local farmers are offering an alternative solution: Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) boxes.

These boxes are typically filled with a variety of vegetables, from fresh greens and carrots to radishes, tomatoes, beets, and more.

At Hell’s Half Acre Farm, Meggan Gibson said the initiative is all about supporting local agriculture.

“It provides us as farmers a way to provide, to grow and to provide fresh veggies all year long, all season long for you, the consumer,” she told Big Ginger of 103.1 Beach Radio. “When you get your box, you pick it up on Saturday, I'm harvesting on Friday. You cannot beat that. You can't beat the day before.”

If you want your own CSA box, you can reach out to Hell’s Half Acre Farm on Facebook.
