Local cannabis company makes Nasdaq debut

A Kelowna-based cannabis company has hit the big time in New York and around the world

Kelowna-based cannabis manufacturer The Valens Company made its debut appearance on the Nasdaq Capital Market Thursday.

In a media release, Tyler Robson, Chief Executive Officer and Chair, said the listing "represents yet another important milestone that reflects our commitment to all of our shareholders as we continue to advance our global growth initiatives by capitalizing on the legalization of cannabis around the world and strengthening our corporate governance.”

Robson added he was exceptionally proud of the team and the platform they have built in Canada.

“We believe this listing will enable Valens and its shareholders greater access to liquidity, increased corporate visibility, and a broader shareholder base, in an effort to create long-term shareholder value.”

Robson, a graduate of Rutland Secondary School, heads a company with a mission to bring the benefits of cannabis to the world.

In a corporate video on the company’s Facebook page, Robson said one of his goals has always been to change the perception of cannabis use and to leave a legacy and help people in a positive way. He reflects on his own humble beginnings in Kelowna, the support of his parents, and how “... it really shows you what’s important, and that tomorrow isn’t promised.”

According to the company, it provides proprietary cannabis processing services, in addition to product development, manufacturing, and commercialization of cannabis consumer packaged goods.

The Valens Company’s products are formulated for the medical, health and wellness, and recreational consumer segments, and are offered across all cannabis product categories with a focus on quality and innovation.

The company also manufactures, distributes, and sells a wide range of CBD products in the United States through its subsidiary Green Roads, and distributes medicinal cannabis products to Australia through its subsidiary Valens Australia.
