Last chance for input on City Hall/Library

West Kelowna residents were able to give their opinion on new developments.

  • Community input on City Hall/Library Building design ends on October 3
  • Participation options available online and in-person
  • Construction is estimated to be competed in Winter 2022

There are only a few days left for members of the public to have their say on the design of West Kelowna’s first City Hall and Okanagan Regional Library building.

The location of the city-owned site is on 3731 Old Okanagan Highway.

The city says the main objectives for the concepts of the project include centralizing City administration services in one building, minimizing environmental impacts, and enhancing outdoor spaces for public gathering.

It will also serve as a catalyst for area revitalization once construction is completed in Winter 2022.

“Your feedback will help shape the final design and build on the momentum of creating a civic center services area,” said West Kelowna Mayor Gord Milsom in a YouTube video.

There are a variety of ways to get involved before the final round for public consultation ends on Sunday, October 3. Online options include virtual Open House boards, an online questionnaire, and the ability to share thoughts and comments in the idea portal.

A virtual tour of the main floor entrance is also available on YouTube.

For those who want to engage with in-person activities there will be a pop-up engagement session from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 2 at Gellatly Bay Waterfront (weather permitting). Display boards and printed questionnaires can also be found at the current City Hall and at the Westbank Library.

According to a survey by the city that had 308 responses from the public, the most important aspects of the new development are having an in-person information desk and landscaping that is drought tolerant with sustainable vegetation.
