Kelowna’s OV103.9 is on the air!

103.9 The LAKE is now known as OV103.9, paying homage to an Okanagan Valley original, the legendary CKOV.

CKOV was the first radio station in the Okanagan Valley, launched in 1931. CKOV has been part of the fabric of the Valley we love for almost 100 years. Over the years the station has evolved, but the commitment to Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley remains.

OV103.9, That ‘70s Station, will play favorite songs from the ‘70s, including Elton John, Chicago, ABBA, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac; and some from the ‘60s, including Simon & Garfunkel, the Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, and of course, the Beatles.

OV103.9 will feature more news, on the hour every hour, all day. News and information that captures the vibe of the Okanagan Valley, as well as news from the rest of BC and around the globe. Our experienced news team live in the Okanagan, and are committed to delivering local news and information daily.

The change from The LAKE to the new and improved OV103.9 followed extensive research and conversations with real radio listeners in the Okanagan Valley.

“Traditional radio serves a 25-54 age demo. We’ve built the new OV103.9 to satisfy the over-50 demo in the Valley with music they remember,” states Karl Johnston, General Manager. “OV103.9 is a contemporary radio station that reflects this audiences active lifestyle.

“Listeners told us they wanted to hear big hits, a big music library, and hourly local news and community information; it’s like the radio this audience remembers,” said Corey Fischer, Program Director. “OV103.9 has the news you need and music you remember - for the first time together on FM, on-line and streaming.”

“OV103.9 is a radio station built around the music that makes the audience feel good by feeling young!” said Johnston, inviting radio listeners in Kelowna to “come over to OV103.9” and give the station a try.

OV103.9 is part of Pattison Media Ltd. Along with sister stations 104.7 The Lizard, 103.1 Beach Radio, and the Kelowna10 app, we are Kelowna’s ‘original’ media company, serving the Okanagan for 93 years!
