Meet a Kelowna teenager producing music with some of the biggest names in pop

After returning from Nashville, Scotty Berg spoke with Kelowna10 and 103.1 Beach Radio the day his first single dropped

  • Pop singer asked to come to Nashville
  • His producer has worked with big names in the industry

Scotty Berg is starting to make his dreams of becoming a pop star a reality.

The 14-year-old, who attends École KLO Middle School, has just returned from Nashville where he worked with top producers on three new songs.

“It was awesome,” Berg told Kelowna10 after a live interview on 103.1 Beach Radio.

“Going to Nashville to pursue my dreams was so surreal and to do it with people who have songs on the Billboard Top 100 was awesome.”

Those producers have also worked with the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Toni Braxton and Flo Rida.

Berg started singing when he was just three years old and has already gained a massive following on social media with millions of views. He has performed around the region, including singing the national anthem at high profile hockey games.

Recently, Berg was scouted online through his Instagram account and asked to record and produce his new material in Nashville.

He describes his style as upbeat, laid-back with a pop vibe and a little bit of country.

His new song “No Time to Waste” was one of the three recorded in the United States. He hopes it will inspire people to value the moment and take chances in life.

“The song is about this journey for a guy like me or someone else figuring out their life from the age of five to fourteen trying to figure out what to do and take the right path,” Berg explained. “And if you make a mistake or not then there’s no time to waste.”

To date, his songs have close to 60,000 combined streams on Spotify.
