We tried Kelowna’s first alcohol free cocktail bar

Downtown Kelowna now has the region’s first non-alcohol wine & cocktail bar.

SOBAR, located at 525 Bernard Ave, is presented through sommeliers and hospitality professionals Somm Zero, who focus on providing quality no and low alcohol products.

This also marks a unique collaboration between two local businesses, working together to improve wellness in downtown Kelowna. They will occupy the space inside Just Peachy wellness bar during the evenings.

“There's plenty of people out there that are really looking for decent quality, known, low alcohol options,” SOBAR owner Alex Viol told Ara and Toby from 103.1 Beach Radio. The radio host paid a visit to the new location.

“Our job has been to work through so many different products, taste everything professionally, select all the really good quality premium stuff and bring it all together in one place so people can really enjoy high quality non alcohol options right here in Kelowna,” Viol explained.

He added what get’s him excited about the venture is offering people an elevated and enjoyable experience without alcohol and show customers there are in fact good non-alcoholic drinks out there to enjoy on a night out.

“They can see that it's out there and they can trust us. We’re working hard to bring these great options here for people,” he said. “It's going to be interesting and fun to see what the vibe is. All the good stuff you would expect from a bar space, but without the barrier and the downside to booze, which sometimes can turn a lot of people off from coming to a bar or going out with friends.”

SOBAR is open from Wednesday to Sunday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
