"Smile Kelowna" celebrates the heart and soul of the city
Kelowna's very own reggae artist and cultural ambassador Gold Mynd, is out with his new single, Smile Kelowna.
It's a vibrant and uplifting track in which the artist sings about a girl he met in 2016. It turns out that 'girl' is actually Kelowna.
"It was love at first sight," the lyric goes. When he asks her where she's from he learns it's the " Valley" and then he discovers her name is "Kelowna." The song goes on to tell us about "the beautiful woman with the sweetest fruits" in "one of the nicest place to grow your youth."
Sponsored by Creative BC and endorsed by the City of Kelowna , the song's aim is to showcase the city and its artistic talents.
" I thought about how can I come up with a song with a community vibe," Gold Mynd told Ara, from 103.1 Beach Radio. The singer had heard the version of Smile Jamaica by Chronixx.
"While we were in the recording studio we knew it was an ear worm song," he said.
Top musicians based in Kelowna collaborated on the track, and trumpeter Mike Schell, who is also the promoter with LMS Records, accompanied Gold Mynd in our fun video.
