Kelowna Fringe Preview: Can I Sing a Song for You

The Kelowna International Fringe Festival is back, and Kelowna10 is swinging by local rehearsals to give you a glimpse of what to expect and decide what you might want to see.

Can I Sing a Song for You

Anna Jacyszyn, a Kelowna performer, will be singing eight original songs in a 50-minute musical show and the stories behind them. She highlights her personal journey through relationships while being a professional jazz singer.

What is the inspiration behind the performance?

“The inspiration is mostly about heart ache. I didn’t have a huge relationship toolbelt growing up. So, a lot of these songs derive from diaries of rants, utter shear torment of being broken up with, the realization that I should break up with somebody, and through my travels of meeting different types of boys and wanting to date them,” Jacyszyn said.

Why should people see it?

“I think it’s a really good way of getting to know me better. I’m going to have a live band, and I toured with those in the band who helped me start the Jazz Café,” Jacyszyn said. “This is really a love story to my inner thoughts. I wanted to make sure as people get to know me better as I get more in the public eye by doing shows and songs, this is a little love story to how I nurtured myself to who I am today.”
