Every year during October, the Kelowna Corn Maze offers a place for family and friends to get together and enjoy the spirit of Halloween.

“We have roughly a three acre corn maze, and we have 19 steel boxes with animatronics in each of them,” Dave Bulach, owner-operator of Kelowna Corn Maze told Kelowna10.

“[The boxes] are closed during the day for the young kids. We open them up about 6:30 at night and everything comes to life at that time.”

The setup of the corn maze requires a lot of preparation. The different animatronic scenes in the boxes, as well as the layout of the maze are planned months in advance.

“We start in May, planting and putting our pathways in. Then come September, the girls start putting the big steel boxes together and putting scenes in them… for October 1st,” Bulach said.

The maze can take over thirty minutes to properly explore, and offers a variety of different pathways and scenes to discover. Food is readily available at the maze.

“We’ve got a food truck with burgers and everything on board right now. They make really good food up here too,” Bulach said.

The community has grown up with the maze as part of their Autumn activities. For many years families have been visiting and exploring what the maze has to offer.

“We’ve had kids coming and going since they were little kids, and now they’re bringing their boyfriends and girlfriends through,” Bulach said.

“It’s really neat to see the community and the support from the community on our 15th year.”

The Kelowna Corn Maze is located at 539 Valley Rd in Glenmore.
