Kelowna connection to Dolph Lundgren documentary

Producer with local roots working on the exciting new project.

  • Adam Scorgie will be lead producer
  • Documentary is about Dolph Lundgren’s life
  • Film should be released in a little over a year

A new documentary about Swedish action movie superstar Dolph Lundgren has a connection to Kelowna.

Adam Scorgie, from Score G Productions, grew up in the city and he’ll be one of the lead producers on a film about the life of Lundgren, who is known for his roles as Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, He-Man in Master of the Universe and many more.

“We have about 25, 30 per cent of the film footage captured and then we’ve got much more of the contemporary and interviews, so we’re just getting started,” Scorgie told Kelowna10.

The film will touch on various aspects of the actor’s life, including his master’s degree in chemical engineering, as well as his time as a martial artist, author, director, and producer.

Fans will have to wait about another year to see the film, but Scorgie said he would love to bring the star to the city.

“If we can bring Dolph and setup a screening in Kelowna, I will definitely make it happen,” he said.

Although Scorgie has worked with plenty of well-known people, working with Lundgren was a surreal experience.

“For me, growing up, I mean I was a huge fan of Masters of the Universe, Red Scorpion, the original Punisher, like I grew up seeing Dolph,” Scorgie explained.

“I was having to pinch [myself], I was geeking out a little bit being like, man it’s He-Man!”

Scorgie said the production’s been smooth and that Lundgren is a pleasure to work with, very humble and methodical.

A producer generally beings together the films financing and creative team. However, Scorgie said he also must be mindful of the story being told.

“My job is to also make sure Dolph trusts our crew, and that when he opens up and shares very intimate moments with his soul … that we capture it in a cinematic way, but also honour what he’s trying to get across with that message.”

The film is being executively produced by Red Orm Productions, Score G Productions, and Famous Red Car Picture, according to a news release. Andrew Holmes is writing and directing, with Scorgie and Shane Fennessey being lead producers.
