It's 63 years since 'the day the music died'

Buddy Holly's legacy lives on

Feb. 3 will always be a date synonymous with ‘the day the music died.’

Sixty-three years ago, pioneering musicians Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper, and Buddy Holly passed away in a plane crash.

All these years later, it's still something we think about, helped along by the huge Don McLean hit that immortalized the trio, 'American Pie.'

Ryan from 103.1 Beach Radio caught up with the Buddy Holly Centre all the way down in Lubbock, Texas, to find out what made the American icon so special.
