WATCH: Is your bike ready for spring?

See how a quick trip to a bike technician is all you need

  • Watch the steps that can keep your bike running well and keep you safe
  • Checking out bike accessories is also key to getting set up

With spring just around the corner, it can be tempting to jump on your bike at the first opportunity to hit the trails. But is your bike ready?

Bike technician at Cyclepath Kelowna, Adam Drouin, told Kelowna 10 there are a couple of basic things you can do from home.

“Inflating your tires before every ride, [and] making sure that you have fresh lubrication on your chain,” he said.

Drouin also said people should do a quick bolt check.

“You don’t want to overtighten bolts, but you want to make sure that everything is properly snug just to avoid general wear and tear,” he said.

According to Drouin, proper maintenance is going to keep everything running a lot smoother and a lot longer.

Riders should also prioritize a few things headings into the spring.

“The biggest thing you want to do is make sure that you have a newer helmet,” Drouin said, noting helmets do have expiry dates and can harden over time.
